Cincy Flames 3, 11U Miamisburg Hornets 0

The Cincy Flames played an almost flawless defensive game and Nick Ernst and John Malott proved a tough one-two punch as the Flames scratched out 3 runs to win 3-0.

Nick punched out 6 Hornets in his 3 shut-out innings of work for the win. John "Welcome Back!" Malott pitched like the Malott of old with 3 innings for the save. Malott gave up a hit and walked one while striking out 3. (can you tell this reporter is relieved he is back?!). Behind them both pitchers were supported by a fantastic defense.

Offensively the Flames put 3 runs up on some very talented pitching by the Hornets. In the first after a Ryne Poli single, Dalton Ranshaw smacked an RBI single to left field to plate what would be the winning run. In the 4th the Flames dented the plate twice with RBI's from Noah Mehrle and Joey Wenning.
