Flames Beat Riverbats 5-3 and 10-6

The Flames took two VERY long games from the Cincinnati Riverbats on Sunday.

In game one Ian Rutzel started the game and went 4 solid innings giving up only 1 h and 1 BB while striking out 5 for the win.

Offensively the Flames couldn't get much going against a tough Riverbats pitching duo. Ryne Poli smacked his 4th double of the year and Taylor Healey stayed hot with a hit and a walk. Noah Merhle added at triple.

In game two the Flames bats came alive and they jumped out to a lead and held on 10-6. Offensively Ryne Poli, John Malott, Noah Mehrle, and Joey Wenning each hit RBI doubles. Taylor Healey gunned down 2 would be base stealers. On the mound the Flames had 5 guys toe the rubber with the game ending with Logan "clutch" Brauning striking out 3 in one IP for the save.

Kinect Nationals 5, Cincy Flames 2

Kinect avenged a loss from last week and defeated the Flames 5-2. The fifth inning proved to be the killer as Kinect dented the plate 4 times to take the lead..

Flames take two from the Sharks

The Flames bats were smokin' and the pitching and defense was again nearly flawless as they moved to 3-0 in the SWOL.

In game 1 John Malott tossed a complete game 2-hitter giving up 2 H and a BB, while recording 7 Ks. The outstanding defense plays behind John were many. Joey Wenning made great catch on a line drive near short in the first. Ryne Poli made a great stab at first for an unassistant put out in the 2nd. Catcher Ronnie Murphy gunned down a would be base stealer with a perfect throw in the 3rd.

Offensively Ryne Poli smoked a 2B and a 3B, scored 3 times, and knocked in 2. Ronnie Murphy went 3 for 3 with a 2B, 2 R, and 3 RBI. Dalton Ranshaw went 2 for 3 with 2 R and 2 RBI. Tristan "Da Hose" Lana smoked a 2-run 2B.

In Game 2 the offense stayed hot, and the defense looked almost perfect.

Nick Ernst tossed 3 IP, struck out 3 and allowed only one hit for the win. Joey Wenning tossed 1 inning giving up 0 BB, 2 H, while striking out 1.

Defensively catcher Ronnie "Stud" Murphy threw out a would be basestealer in the 1st inning, one in the 2nd inning, and one in the 3rd inning. Tristan "Da Hose" Lana threw out a would be basestealer in the 4th. Dalton Ranshaw and Tristan also executed a perfect out on a bunt attempt.

Taylor Healey went 3 for 3 with a 2B, and 2 RBI. Ryne Poli went 2 for 2 with a 3B, and 3 RBI. Ronnie Murphy went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI. John Malott went 2 for 3 with a 2B, and 3 RBI. Noah Mehrle smacked a double.

Cincy Flames 8, Kinect Nationals 0

The Cincy Flames opened up the 2007 SWOL with a win against a talented team from Kinect. The Flames offense put together 8 hits and 8 runs, while the hurlers allowed only 3 hits and 0 runs. Noah Mehrle tossed 4 innings, giving up only 3 H and a BB while striking out 4 for the win. Dalton Ranshaw tossed a hitless inning, and once again Ian Rutzel pitched a perfect 6th inning for the save.

Offensively Joey Wenning, Nick Ernst. and John Malott each hit 2-run singles, Taylor Healey smacked a double, and Ryne Poli went 2 for 2 with a BB.

Cincy Flames 7, Edgewood Bulldogs 1

The Cincy Flames captured the 2007 Bandit Blast Championship by defeating the Edgewood Bulldogs 7-1. The Bulldogs who have also been invited to play at Cooperstown in June, came into the championship game undefeated in 3 games.

Ronnie Murphy shook off some rust in the 1st inning and came back solid recording 3 strikeouts without giving up a hit and allowing just 1 R. Dalton "Smiley" Ranshaw finished the game, pitching 4 innings notching 3 Ks along the way for the save.

Ronnie Murphy smacked a big 2-run single to lead the offense.

Ian Rutzel started the semi-final game against St. Joe's where he left off in game 2. Rutzel tossed 3 IP, giving up only 1 ER, 3 H, and 1 BB while striking out 3 for the win. Noah Merhle held St. Joe's scoreless in the last two innings for the save. Mehrle notched 3 Ks and walked 0.

Tristan Lana led the offense going 2 for 3 with an RBI single. Noah Mehrle, Logan Brauning, Ryne Poli, and Ronnie Murphy each hit clutch RBI singles, and Taylor Healey drilled an RBI-2B.

In a rematch of last year's championship game the Flames faced off against The Tippecanoe Wolfpack.

John Malott pitched 5 scoreless innings giving up just 1 H and 1 BB. Malott struck out 4, and the defense played flawless behind him as he picked up the win. Ian Rutzel pitched a perfect 6th inning for the save. Rutzel needed just 6 pitches (5 strikes) to close the door.

Offensively the Flames scratched out 4 runs against two very solid Wolpack pitchers. Taylor Healey stayed hot hitting a 2B and scoring a R, and Ronnie Murphy smacked an RBI-single.

Cincy Flames 10, St. Simon Royals 2

Justin "knuckleball niner" Moyer sporting an unfamiliar number 3, gave the 10u Flames a solid start to the Bandits Blast Tournament to pick up the win. The knuckle-change was working like a charm as he recorded 2 Ks, 0 H, and 0 ER in his 2 IP. Joey Wenning came in to finsih the game for the save. Wenning went 3 IP, recorded 3 Ks, 0 BB, 0 H, and 0 R.

Taylor Healey led the offense with 2 RBI, a R, a 3B, and a sac fly. Nick Ernst also hit a 3B, and scored 2 R. Joey Wenning and Logan Brauning each added huge RBI singles, and Dalton Ranshaw smacked a 2-run single.
