Cincy Flames 6, 11U Kentucky Titans 5
Nick Ernst scored the winning run in the bottom of the 6th inning as the 10u Cincy Flames pulled out a victory in the 11U Cincy Flames Summer Classic.
In the top of the 6th with the score tied 5-5 the Titans loaded the bases. Coach Josh made a call to the bullpen and brought in the "Duece", Noah Merhle to keep the game tied. It took just 8 pitches to induce a 1-2 force out, a 5-2 force out, and a pop to the third baseman. The crowd went wild and I think I even saw what might have been the wave by the Flames faithful.
After the Titans scored 4 in the first inning the Flames settled down and battled back. In the bottom of the first inning RBI-doubles by Ronnie "Stud" Murphy and Nick Ernst followed by great baserunning by Nick put the game back in reach at 4-3.
After the Titans' Slugger smacked a 230 HR to dead center in the 2nd inning the Titans never dented the plate again as Dalton Ranshaw, Ian Rutzel and closer Noah Merle shut them down for 4 innings.
The Flames scored two more times in the 3rd when Taylor Healey walked and John "Birthday Boy" Malott followed with a double, two RBI groundouts by Murphy and Poli and the Flames knotted the score at 5-5, where the score remained until Nick touched home witht he winning run.
