Cincy Flames 3, Rhode Island Reds 2

Game 5 of Cooperstown pool play saw the 3-1 Rhode Island Reds facing the undefeated Cincy Flames. The Flames' hot bats were silent for most of the game but strong pitching by Dalton Ranshaw and Ian Rutzel held the Reds down, and the right arm of Nick "Moses" Ernst threw out two would be basestealers.

Closer Ronnie Murphy ended the game with a strikeout and a routine 9-3 put out by right fielder John Malott, his 4th putout of the tournament from the outfield.

Offensively John Malott smacked a double, Dalton Ranshaw added a single, and Ryne Poli chipped in with an RBI-single. Logan Brauning reached base twice and scored two the first two runs by the Flames.

Malott 1-3, 2B, R
Poli 1-3, RBI
Brauning 0-1, 2 R, BB

W - Ranshaw 4 2/3 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 4 Ks, 0 ER
Rutzel 1/3 IP, K
Malott 1/3 IP, H
S - Murphy 2/3, K
